Youth Policy - The Strokes

We want everyone coming to Sydney Summertime to have a fun, safe and memorable experience.

The Strokes at Sydney Summertime on Saturday 20 February 2027 is a 16+ event. Everyone attending must be aged 16 years or over on the day of the concert.

If you’re 16 or 17 years old, you’ll need to attend with a responsible adult and stay with them throughout the event.

This Youth Policy applies specifically to The Strokes on Saturday 20 February 2027. Age and licensing conditions may vary between Sydney Summertime concerts, so please make sure you check the Youth Policy and ticketing information for the individual show you’re attending.

Here’s everything you need to know before you arrive.

Coming to The Strokes if you’re 16 or 17 years old

• You must be at least 16 years old on the day of the concert.
• You’ll need to attend with a responsible adult.
• You and your responsible adult need to arrive and enter the event together.
• One responsible adult can accompany up to two people aged 16 or 17.
• You’ll need to bring suitable photo ID showing your date of birth.
• You’ll receive an Under 18 wristband when you enter.
• You’ll need to stay with your responsible adult while you’re at Sydney Summertime.

Anyone aged 15 or under cannot attend The Strokes, even if accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Who can be your responsible adult?

Your responsible adult needs to be someone who is genuinely responsible for you while you’re at the event.

Under NSW liquor licensing law, a responsible adult is:

• a parent, step-parent or guardian;
• the minor’s spouse or de facto partner; or
• another adult who is genuinely standing in as the minor’s parent or guardian at the relevant time (not merely accompanying them).

Simply being 18 or over doesn’t automatically make someone a responsible adult. An older sibling or friend may be able to accompany you if they are genuinely taking responsibility for your care and supervision while you’re at the event.

Tickets and arriving at the event

Each person aged 16 or 17 will need the appropriate ticket for the concert.

When you arrive, you and your responsible adult should head to the designated Youth / Under 18 entry point together.

Our team will check your tickets and ID and may ask your responsible adult to confirm that they are accompanying you and taking responsibility for you during the event.

Once you’re checked in, you’ll receive an Under 18 wristband so our event team can easily identify you as an under-18 patron.

Don’t forget your ID

If you’re 16 or 17, please bring current photo ID showing your date of birth.

Suitable ID may include a current:

• learner or driver licence;
• passport;
• NSW Photo Card; or
• other government-issued photo ID showing your date of birth.

We’ll confirm the accepted forms of ID in the event FAQs before the show.

Please bring your original ID rather than a photo or screenshot on your phone.

Your responsible adult should also bring current photo ID.

If we can’t confirm that you’re at least 16yo, unfortunately we won’t be able to let you into the event. Your ticket on its own isn’t proof of age.

While you’re at Sydney Summertime

We want you to enjoy the concert together.

If you’re 16 or 17yo, your responsible adult needs to remain with you and be available and contactable throughout the event.

We understand there may be short periods where you’re briefly apart — heading to nearby toilets, for example — but you should remain in contact and meet back up promptly.

It’s a good idea to have each other’s mobile numbers saved before you arrive and agree on a meeting point just in case you become separated.

Alcohol and 18+ areas

If you’re under 18, you cannot purchase, be supplied with, possess or drink alcohol at the event.

This also means your responsible adult cannot purchase or supply alcohol for you.

Some areas within Sydney Summertime may also be designated 18+ only. Your Under 18 wristband won’t provide access to these areas.

Our bar teams may ask anyone for photo ID when purchasing alcohol, regardless of the wristband they are wearing.

If you get separated or need some help

Don’t worry — just speak to any member of our event, security or welfare team and they’ll help you.

You can also head to the Welfare Point if you become separated from your responsible adult or need assistance.

If you need medical help, visit First Aid or ask any member of our team to contact the medical team for you.

If we find an under-18 patron without their responsible adult, we’ll help them reconnect. If the responsible adult can’t be located or is no longer able to supervise them, we’ll make sure arrangements are made for the young person to leave the event safely.

A few things to check before you head to the show

Before leaving home, make sure:

• you’ll be 16 or 17 on Saturday 20 February 2027;
• your accompanying adult meets the responsible adult requirements;
• there are no more than two under-18 patrons with each responsible adult;
• everyone has their ticket and suitable photo ID;
• you have each other’s mobile numbers saved; and
• you’ve organised your transport, meeting point and a safe way home.
